THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER
Kolding Light Festival 2014 (DK)

Inspired by the small Danish harbour town of Kolding, Tim Schmelzer chose the harbour's granary to present the touching story of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" in individual images as part of the Kolding Light Festival.
A colourful collage of images was created based on the black and white illustrations by Gustave Doré. These images were specially developed for the analogue projection process on 24cm x 24cm image plates. These were projected onto the huge granary using the world's most powerful analogue Pani slide projector, which dominated the cityscape during the festival. Visitors viewing the projection from a distance were also invited to listen to an audio book of the story on their mobile phones, which was provided as a stream.
