DE STIJL
DE STIJL
Glow Light Festival 2013, Eindhoven (NL)
How would the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian work today if he had the means of projection design? Which building would he choose? How can the ideas of "De Stijl" be transferred to a building?
Tim Schmelzer tried to answer these questions when he produced a 3D mapping show for the "Light in Art & Architecture Festival Glow". The result was a small homage to the Dutch group of artists.
The building, the Hooghius in Eindhoven, was specially selected for this work. At the time of its construction, it was just as controversial as the "De Stijl" art form in the 1920s. The performance initially refers to the works of Piet Mondrian, which were characterised by the reduction of form and colour, and develops further into a three-dimensional play with architecture based on the manifesto of the Dutch artists group.
