RAUM / SPACE

A stereoscopic 3D projection installation at St. Martin's Church Kaufbeuren

The projection installation ‘RAUM´(SPACE) used a stereoscopic technique in which the three-dimensional effect is created by wearing coloured filter glasses. The shift in red and blue tones in the depth planes creates a special illusion of spatial perception. To enable visitors to enjoy this experience, 2,000 pairs of 3D glasses were made available to them.

The intervention was presented at the ‘Altstadtfunkeln 2025’ light festival in Kaufbeuren (Germany).
At the centre of the staging was St. Martin's Church in Kaufbeuren, where part of the exterior façade was transformed into an artistic depiction using 3D projections, light and sound. Video projections precisely adapted to the architecture highlighted the elements of the building. Gables, windows and figures emerged from their rigid forms and were presented in a weightless representation, while wall elements dissolved and opened up the space.
