Super 8
A short homage to one's own childhood.

In the summer of 2015, Tim Schmelzer projected film footage onto a large lava rock on the west end of Fermoyle Beach in Kerry at dusk. This Super 8 footage was shot 40 years earlier at the same location during a family holiday. Since then, this magical place has attracted Tim Schmelzer time and time again. With the small light installation, the memories captured in Super 8 films were brought back to the place where they were taken and accentuated with the familiar characteristic sounds of a Super 8 projector from childhood.
